Russia has a long-standing tradition in high-quality education for all citizens. It probably has also one of the best mass-education systems in the world producing a literacy rate (98%) exceeding most Western European countries. Education is split into a compulsory Basic Education, and ongoing Higher Education.

The Indian students seeking admission are admitted in those institutions which are recognized by World Health Organization and Medical Council of India for screening test conducted by MCI. Compared to western countries, the tuition fee in Russian institutions are reasonable.
The imparting system of higher medical education in Russia is well formulated and advanced. In the evaluation of student’s performance, their progress in mastering the subject is monitored closely and objectively.
The important part of higher education assessment process in Russia is the final state examination.
From September all the Russian medical Institutions starts their academic year. There are two semesters in an academic year,September to January and February to June. First semester examinations are held usually in January while second semester exams are held in June. Student enjoys winter vacation as well as summer vacation. Winter vacation is from 15th January to 7th February and summer vacation is from 1st July to 31st August.

The Center of Simulation-Based Training is located on the campus of BSMU. It is equipped with state-of-the-art simulators, which allow practicing medical procedures in a safe environment. Northern State Medical University
NSMU was established in 1932 for training medical personnel in the European North of Russia. It currently hosts about 9000 students from 17 countries in 16 faculties and institutes and has a staff of 9,80,394 of which are academics – including 80 professors, and 250 Ph.D.
There are 55 departments, 27 of which are clinical ones and situated at the best hospitals of the city. Well equipped clinical base allows the training of highly qualified specialists of different profiles according to modern requirements of the health care systems. Today NSMU is the main medical training center for six regions of Northern Russia. More than 100 graduates of NSMU are working abroad (USA, UK, Canada, Israel, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark etc).
